Empowering communities through sustainable and creative technologies
Maia Earth Organization, Inc., cares for the Earth through practical, hands-on work in sustainability. Our focus is on doing the work — restoring ecosystems, managing waste responsibly, building with natural materials, and sharing knowledge that supports long-term resilience.
We apply the principles of permaculture, learn from Indigenous ecological knowledge, and promote low-impact ways of living that are rooted in respect for people and planet. From composting systems and regenerative farming to natural building technologies and land care practices, we aim to demonstrate solutions that are simple, effective, and grounded in real experience.
From our mountain home, East, West, South and North live sustainably and simply together, coordinating projects across a spectrum of interests. Humans, animals, plants and the earth elements live in equal and shared status in a quiet part of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines.
We focus on
Promoting livelihood, supporting local economies and honoring indigenous knowledge through Ecobuilding
Our projects and actions are designed through the lenses of a whole systems approach and model solutions that work with natural processes. Creatively transforming waste into resource and supporting human and Earth wellbeing, we provide skill building in ecological design, permaculture, and green entrepreneurship.
Less resource intensive, more meaningful, lasting solutions
Creating a culture that values the balance between people, planet, and prosperity.
At schools, our multilayered projects offer room for students to explore their creativity while learning not just new skills for their professional development, but also deep ecology and integrative practices. Following an interdisciplinary approach to learning, we focus on grounding Science into the every-day life of students with opportunities where multiple intelligences can be explored.
Integrating community education, tourism, health, and urban development initiatives through sustainable construction and wellness-based education.
Collective action, community bonding and environmental education and activism
Community-wide implementation of Ecobrick technology in schools, barangays, and institutions as a means of reducing solid waste in rural and urban areas.
Balance, conservation, and regeneration through permaculture and support to indigenous knowledge
We contribute to Land Care and Food Security through our livelihood programs, permaculture gardens and seed saving.
Integrating sustainable practices into healthcare and empowering individuals to be active participants in their wellbeing.
Health from within: individuals that contribute meaningfully to their communities
In partnership with doctors and practitioners from various countries, we seek to bridge simplicity and holistic health to Prisons, Schools, Addiction Centers and Hospitals.
